Well I know it's not supposed to be, and I'll touch on the details in a moment, but seriously when I first saw this I swore it had to be Mumm-ra from the Thundercats.

But I've got to say that this is a really, really well done piece. Very cool. The whole thing just oozes malice, wickedness, and evil. The use of a darker and more mild color tone is a really nice touch, too, gives the sense that everything around him is just dessicated and dead. All of it looks incredible, but the one part that steals the show is his hands. The effect of the magic warping around his hands is...I don't know how to say it other than just plain cool. It just looks awesome. Everything about this guy is just plain awesome.

It occured to me that i had not yet posted a comment on this piece but i had saved it under favourites. Well what can i say but "perfection"...it pretty much sums it up. You seem to have aimed for a necromantic spell? That being said since the green is the true colour of necromantic energy. I imagine this also has something to do with D&D (white robes = good, black robes = evil, red robes = neutral)The one single thing i cant get my head around is what exactly am i seeing under that hood? If those are lips they seem rather large and with the features of the negroid race. I would be happy to understand what exactly that is. All in all however, this piece is amazing! Keep it up!

Thank you for your generosity of kind words Herrekar. I appreciate it.
My client specifically requested that the figure under the robes be kept quite mysterious. So the fact that you are intrigued, but can't quite "get your head around" what lies beneath...is the desired effect. ;)
Thanks for stopping by Herrekar.

the power in this is very impressive. Red mages are not good or bad, but this one is giving off a very dark shadow about him. the runes on his robes are a great touch, not just decorative but useful. And his inhuman hands make me glad he's covered up his face. All in all, a win. I'm sure the person who asked for this commission is very pleased. I would be.

Gorgeous image Valerie, you may or not know how big a fan I am of lighting effects, and you did a great job on the glow from his hands.

Thank you so much Starfox. I didn't realize you were a big fan of dramatic lighting. Although, having seen many of your pieces, I shouldn't be surprised! Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate that. :)

I do love lighting, sometimes I think I need to pull it back, cos not everything needs dramatic lighting. I think it's to make up for my lack of texturing, which I'm getting better at (I think!)

Great stuff! I really like the way the chains float from his cloak. I can imagine this guy fighting Mum Raa the ever living. He might even win! :)

Thank you Uriel!
Mum Raa...is that a Thundercat reference? LOL! Very nice. Yeah, I think my Mage is much older, and as a result has accumlated even more wicked power. ;D

Amazing work! I love the contrast between the red in the robe and the green in the hands! You've played up the darkness so well here; it's a beautifully done piece, and there's doubt whoever the commission is, they'll be pleased.
